Bologna, a vibrant urban tapestry, embodies a multicultural, historical landscape where the intricate weave of day and night, affluence and poverty, aristocracy and bourgeoisie manifests itself in the city's streets. Comparable to a spider's web, this cityscape reflects a network of interconnected layers, an analogy echoed by Michel Foucault's insights into the dynamics of power. However, amidst this magnificent pattern, a conspicuous absence persists - the vital presence of "green."
This visionary project proposes a master plan for Bologna's future, aiming to shift the city's consumptive events toward a production-based architectural paradigm. Inspired by Michel Foucault's theories on power dynamics, particularly as expounded in his works, this master plan outlines a transformative infrastructure that fosters and showcases exhibition spaces throughout the city, scaling seamlessly from the urban center to its periphery. The vision is to cultivate a future city where the production of art, architecture, and greenery thrives harmoniously, underscoring the influence of power dynamics on urban development.
The chosen site, adjacent to the Fiera district and graced by architectural masterpieces envisioned by notable figures such as Leonardo Benevolo, Kenzo Tange, and Le Corbusier, serves as the canvas for this visionary metamorphosis. The envisioned infrastructure, burgeoning with artistic and architectural ingenuity, along with green spaces, originates from diverse sources—housing precincts, agricultural lands, the old town, and the Masters' junction—converging on this selected site to shape the architectural nucleus. These verdant bands coalesce and intertwine, harmoniously housing architectural wonders while reflecting the complex power dynamics inherent in urban spaces, an aspect elucidated by Foucault's influential theories
